I love all my children: Mmm Sliver and Tumblr Sets

asksliverqueen:

((Making a set! Of course, it is largely based around slivers, but will contain other things also, so do not despair! So basically this is a post that is going to do a lot of things. WOW CLARITY.

FIRST THING: There are about 25 cards in the set so far. If anyone would like to help me go through them and judge them for mechanics and fairness, that would be wonderful, as I’ve never made a set before ;w;

SECOND THING: If you have any ideas for slivers! That would be wonderful! Please drop me a line in my ask if you do! It would be most fabulous! Especially if the slivers had very smart-sounding names! <ex: Abstersive and Algedonic Slivers. BUT THIS DOES NOT HAVE TO BE. GIVE ME ALL THE WEIRD NAMES.>

THIRD THING: As much as I love art, I can’t do it all by myself ;n; So if anyone is interested in helping with that, that would be fabu.

FOURTH THING: I’m actually also making a tumblr set, so please please please, if you want to make a card for it, or you want to be in it, or you want someone/something else in it, let me know! And give information, if you could; otherwise it might get weird :L And if you are having a card of yourself, it would be great for you to do your own art so it’s especially special!

Anywhoodles, thank you for your time if you’re reading this, and I would greatly appreciate your help! Thanks again! Love, Mod!))

The thing about me is that when I have ideas, I usually have them in batches. As such, here are twenty-eight Slivers, plus a Sliver in spirit.

Welcome Doctor Who booster #2

These are mostly artifacts and cards fixed for functionality. The new card(s) is/are the Legendary Planet of Gallifrey.

The “Eleventh” Doctor now gains phasing for his first ability rather than the more complex exile-with-all-strings-attached-I-don’t-know-what-I-was-thinking-thingie.

The next cards I’ll be working on are The Master and the Daleks, I really wish I had the (non-existant) patch that makes transforming planeswalkers and four-ability planeswalkers possible.

Enjoy! Follow for more!

Right then. We’ve covered Message of Distress, so let’s take a look at the others.

The “Eleventh” Doctor 3WU
Planeswalker — Doctor
+1: The “Eleventh” Doctor phases out. (Counters stay on permanents while they’re phased out.)
-2: Untap up to two target creatures you control.
-9: You get an emblem with “Whenever you activate an ability, if it isn’t a mana ability, you may copy that ability. You may choose new targets for the copy.”
5

Nothing particularly red about these abilities. At least, nothing that can’t justifiably go into white or blue. I dropped the loyalty a bit, since using the plus ability effectively gives Eleven shroud until he phases back in.

Gallifrey
Legendary Land — Planet
Gallifrey’s activated abilities can’t be activated if it phased in this turn.
T: Add two mana of any one color to your mana pool. Gallifrey phases out. Activate this ability only any time you could cast an instant.

As it was, Gallifrey was strictly better than Teferi’s Isle. Now it behaves a bit more interestingly.

Mass-Produced Cybermen 4ф
Artifact Creature — Human Construct
Battle cry
Mass-Produced Cybermen gets +1/+0 for each other creature on the battlefield named Mass-Produced Cybermen.
A deck can have any number of cards named Mass-Produced Cybermen.
1/2

A colorless Phyrexian symbol? Interesting, certainly. I changed the name because it’s generally a bad idea to assign an entire species to just one card. I also tweaked the creature type to reflect cyborg-ness without flat out creating a new type. Lastly, battle cry is two words.

Laser Screwdriver 3
Artifact — Equipment
Equipped creature can’t block and is unblockable.
Equip 1

Compare Whispersilk Cloak.

Sonic Screwdriver 3
Artifact — Equipment
Equipped creature has “1, T: Tap or untap target non-Plant, non-Treefolk, non-Forest artifact, creature, or land” and “1: Untap this creature.”
Equip 1

As you noted, it doesn’t work on wood. ;)

K-9 2
Artifact Creature — Hound Companion
3, T: Search your library for a noncreature card, reveal it, shuffle K-9 into your library, and put the noncreature card on top of your library.
1/3

I stripped a few pronouns from the usual format of this kind of search to make everything clear. I had K-9 shuffle itself into the library because being able to repeatedly search for things is really, really powerful. Compare Planar Portal.

Psychic Paper 1U
Enchantment — Aura
Enchant creature
Enchanted creature can’t be blocked except by Walls and/or artifact creatures.

Psychic paper appears as whatever is needed to justify one’s presence somewhere, yes? Seems to me that such credentials make more sense acting as evasion than type changing. Of course, it’s not going to work on robots and unthinking barriers.

What if Beleren had grown a spine and stayed by my side? His power would know no bounds.

Reblogging for near-perfection. I might reccomend either dropping the starting loyalty or upping the cost by one, but I’m not 100% sure.

Super Cardboard Mario

Given a recent observation I offered on a friend’s blog, now seems like a good time for some Super Paper Mario cards.

askkiora:

I’m sure Jin can comment on these. He has before.

Well, if you insist. ;)

Left one:

The first ability may not work in terms of the mandatory conditional reveal. If it does, it still seems an uneasy way of making it happen. I dislike second abilities that consume all of a ‘walker’s starting loyalty, but it’s a personal preference more than anything. The third is simply underpowered for six turns of buildup. I recommend the following:

Kiora Atua 2GU
Planeswalker — Kiora
+1: Draw a card and reveal it. If it’s a creature card, put a +1/+1 counter on target creature you control.
-3: Search your library for a basic land card, put it onto the battlefield, then shuffle your library.
-8: Put a 5/5 green and blue Leviathan creature token with trample and hexproof onto the battlefield.
3

Right one:

This has the opposite problem: Its ultimate is too good, too fast. Given priority shenanigans, opponents can’t Shock this Kiora before you can plop down a flood counter. The main problem with plus abilities that put on more than one loyalty counter is that they increase the rate at which you can reach ultimate ability loyalty exponentially. Generally, this can be compensated for by increasing how much loyalty that ability costs. Needless to say, that was not done here. I recommend the following:

Kiora Atua 2GU
Planeswalker — Kiora
+2: Put a flood counter on target land. That land is an Island in addition to its other types as long as it has a flood counter on it. Its controller may draw a card.
-1: Put target card from a graveyard on top of its owner’s library.
-9: You get an emblem with “At the beginning of your upkeep, you may put a creature card in your hand onto the battlefield.”
2

Small change, but significant.

Hope this helps! :)

TARDICG 3: Trust me. I’m the Doctor.

More of Triskellion’s Doctor Who cards! And this time, one isn’t a Time Lord.

First off, all of the abilities are more blue than white. Second, the ultimate neglects to mention that the artifact is a creature, which means it can’t actually attack or block. Thirdly, why would Kirk’s card be in Klingon? Klingons despise him. Fourthly, here’s my suggestion, more representative of Kirk’s leadership capabilities and the inevitably short lifespan of Ensign Ricky:
James Tiberius Kirk 1RWPlaneswalker — Jim+1: Creatures you control gain vigilance until end of turn.0: Put two 1/1 red and white Human Soldier creature tokens with haste and vigilance onto the battlefield. Sacrifice those tokens at the beginning of your next upkeep.-7: Put a legendary 7/7 colorless Construct artifact creature token named U.S.S. Enterprise onto the battlefield. It has flying and haste.3
